2. The petitioner has filed an application for grant of Gun license and it was rejected by the District Revenue Officer cum Additional District Magistrate, Thoothukudi vide proceedings dated 30.04.2015 and challenging the legality of the same, he filed an appeal before the respondent and vide a Memorandum dated 11.12.2015, the petitioner was informed that his application has been taken on file and the date of hearing will be intimated thereafter and since the appeal has not been listed for hearing, the petitioner through his lawyer sent a notice dated 04.07.2016, since no response is forthcoming, came forward to file this writ petition.
3. Heard the submissions of Mr.V.Sanjeevi, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.S.Pattabiraman, learned Government Advocate, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondent.

4. This Court, taking into considering the limited scope of prayer sought for by the petitioner and without going into the merits of the same, directs the respondent to consider and dispose of the statutory appeal filed by the petitioner in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner.
