Mr.U.Baranidharan, learned Additional Government Pleader accepts notice for the sole respondent being the Tahsildar, Annur Taluk, Coimbatore District and is armed with necessary instructions to enable a final disposal of this Writ Petition, even at the stage of admission.

2. The petitioner, a Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Annur Taluk has sought renewal of its building licence along with stability certificate for the property at S.Nos.246, 247, 248, 249 etc. At Ottarpalayam Village, Annur Taluk, Coimbatore District ('property'/'property in question').

3. The school is presently stated to be functioning in that property. While so, the petitioner had sought and obtained a licence in terms of Section 6(1) of the Tamil Nadu Buildings (Licensing) Act, 1965 on 08.07.2021 valid from that date till 31.07.2024.

4. It has sought renewal of the licence by way of an application filed on 08.05.2024 and has also sent reminders on 31.05.2024 and 21.06.2024 for consideration of its application. Hence, this Writ Petition seeking a mandamus directing the respondent to consider the renewal application and renew the same.

5. Learned Additional Government Pleader has instructions to accede to the pendency of the application. Since the petitioner represents that more than 2000 students are presently studying in the school and the school is compliant Pg.No.2/4

with all Rules concerning statutory compliances, it is necessary that the authority consider the application and take a view on the same, either adversely or in favour of the petitioner in a timely fashion.

6. Hence, mandamus is issued to the sole respondent to consider the application of the petitioner dated 08.05.2024, hear the petitioner, consider all relevant documents and pass orders on the application within a period of four

(4) weeks from date of receipt of a copy of this order, in accordance with law and all extant Rules and Regulations.
