This writ petition has been filed seeking a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 and 2 to provide police protection for screening of the film "18.05.2009" in the theatres at Chennai as well as throughout Tamil Nadu.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that he has produced a film titled "18.05.2009" and that he is being threatened by an advocate Kanimozhi Mathi, not to release the said film. Therefore, the petitioner filed the present petition, seeking police protection.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondentsState.

It is seen that this petitioner had produced a film by name "Porkalathil Oru Poo" and one Vetharanjini filed a suit in CS.No.971 of 2015 before this Court restraining the petitioner from releasing the film and this Court appears to have granted an order of interim injunction in OA.No.1306 of 2015. Now, it is alleged by the said Vetharanjini that the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

petitioner has changed the title of the film "Porkalathil Oru Poo" and renamed it as "18.05.2009" and attempting to release the film.

5. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the Central Board of Film Certification has granted "A Certification" for the film titled "18.05.2009", despite which, the petitioner is being prevented from releasing the film.

6. Per contra, the learned Additional Government Pleader submitted that there are no materials to show that there is any threat to the petitioner for releasing the film. He further submitted that the said Vetharanjini has only issued a legal notice dated 19.05.2018 to the petitioner and nothing more.

7. In such view of the matter, this Court cannot issue a blanket order of police protection for releasing the film in all the theatres in the State of Tamil Nadu. However, as and when there is any threat to the petitioner, it is always open to the petitioner to approach local police and sufficient police protection can be afforded to any theatre, where there is perceived threat for the release of the said film. With the above direction, this petition is ordered. No costs.
