ORDER

This Contempt Petition has been filed alleging non-compliance with the order of this Court dated 06.12.2023, wherein the respondent was directed to complete the investigation and file a final report in Crime No.1078 of 2020 within a period of two months.

The respondent has filed an affidavit stating that, after examining the witnesses and recording their statements, it has come to light that the matter pertains to a dispute between a landlord and a tenant and that no cognizable offence is made out on the basis of the complaint. Therefore, action was dropped and a closure report in RCS notice was served on the de facto complainant on 10.03.2026. The RCS report taken on file by the XVIII Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet, vide RCS.No.59 of 2026 dated 16.03.2026.

Considering the fact that the investigation has been completed and a final report has been filed, though only after the filing of the contempt petition and taking note of the fact that the investigation into the criminal complaint has not ended in any positive report, I am of the view that no action is required against the respondent for the lapse in filing the final report within the prescribed time.

Accordingly, recording the above, this Contempt Petition stands closed.
