ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for a direction, directing the respondents to consider the representation submitted by the petitioners seeking promotion to the post of Assistant.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

3. The petitioners were selected and appointed as Junior Assistant during the month of August 2020 by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. They were alloted to Transport Department and joined in their respective posts. After completion of two years of probation period, they were not sent for basic training regarding office administration and procedure which is being conducted at Bhavani Sagar, before completion of probationary period. Only after two years, the petitioners were sent for training and they completed the training on

11.08.2023. Therefore, they became eligible for promotion to the post of Assistant even during the year 2023-2024. Accordingly, their names were also included in the seniority list for panel of promotion to the post of Assistant. However, without considering the same, now the respondents are prepared to directly recruit the candidates to the post of Assistant.

4. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that the writ petition itself is prematured and apprehended that the petitioners names will not be considered and the post of Assistant will be filled up by direct recruitment.

5. In view of the above, the respondents are directed to consider the case of the petitioners for promotion to the post of Assistant if they are otherwise eligible before making direct recruitment to the post of Assistant.

6. With the above direction, this writ petition stands

disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs.
