ORDER
The petitioners assert title over the land in Survey No.224 of the extent of 12.35 cents. According to the petitioners, respondents 4 to 10 colluded and obtained patta in an unlawful manner in the names of the persons mentioned in paragraph No.11 of the affidavit. Relying on such patta, it is stated that settlement deed dated 31.01.2000 was executed. After issuing lawyer's notice dated 18.03.2024 to the respondents, requesting that settlement deed dated 31.01.2000 be cancelled, the present writ petition has been filed.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that settlement deed dated 31.01.2000 is liable to be cancelled because it was executed by a person without title to the relevant property. 2/4
3. The petitioners have approached this Court in 2024 in relation to the settlement deed executed in the year 2000. There is no acceptable explanation for the inordinate delay. Even otherwise, the petitioners have raised a title dispute with the private respondents herein. The appropriate forum for adjudication thereof is the jurisdictional Civil Court.
4. For reasons aforesaid, this writ petition is disposed of by leaving it open to the petitioners to approach the jurisdictional Civil Court in accordance with law. There shall be no order as to costs. 12.02.2026 Index:Yes/No mmi To 1.The Inspector General of Registration, No.100, Santhome High Road, Mandavelipakkam, Chennai - 600 028.
