Mr. S.Ranjith Kumar For Respondent(s):

Mr. Inthu Karunakaran Government Counsel

ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to conduct a field survey and lay boundary stones in respect of Survey No.236 (Sub divisions 1B1, 1B2, 1B3),situated at A.Nagur Village, Pollachi Taluk, Coimbatore District, to issue measurement sketches, and to effect corrections in the UDR entries in accordance with the petitioner's title deeds and the report of the Sub Collector.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner had submitted a representation to the respondents on 09.02.2026 seeking survey the subject property, laying of boundary stones and correction of the defective UDR entries. However, no action have been taken on the said

representation till date. Hence, the petitioner is constrained to approach this Court.

3. The learned Government Counsel appearing for the respondents submitted that in the present case, the petitioner has sought two reliefs, namely, (i) survey of the land and laying of boundary stones and (ii) correction of the UDR entries. It was further submitted that insofar as correction of UDR entries is concerned, no representation has been submitted before the Revenue Divisional Officer, who is the authority to effect such corrections. It was contended that upon submission of a separate application before the competent authority, the same would be considered in accordance with law.

4. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Counsel for the respondents and perused the materials on record.

5. Though the present Writ Petition has been filed seeking survey and laying of boundary stones in respect of S.No.236 (Sub Divisions 1B1, 1B2 and 1B3), the representation submitted by the petitioner pertains only to Sub Divisions 1B1 and 1B3 and does not cover Sub Division 1B2. It was further submitted by the learned Government Counsel that correction of UDR entries in

respect of S.No.236/1B1 does not fall within the jurisdiction of the Tahsildar and is within the jurisdiction of the Revenue Divisional Officer.

6. In view of the above, this Court is of the view that the petitioner shall submit a fresh representation before the Tahsildar concerned seeking survey of the land and laying of boundary stones. Insofar as correction of UDR entries is concerned, the petitioner shall submit a separate application before the Revenue Divisional Officer concerned. Upon receipt of such representation/application, the respective authorities shall consider the same on its own merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders as expeditiously as possible.

7. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
