ORDER
The prayer in the writ petition is for a mandamus directing the respondents 6 and 7 to initiate criminal proceedings against the respondents 9 to 12 based on the petitioner's representation dated 15.10.2024.

Upon hearing Mr.A.Gouthaman, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, who also played a video before this Court, it can be seen that while making certain enquiries and asking the child to do sit-ups as a punishment, the incident was videographed. Though teachers may be entitled to admonish a child and there is nothing wrong in making the child do sit-ups for any 2/5
mischief or error committed, videographing the entire incident was absolutely uncalled for and amounts to grave misconduct, especially if the teachers recorded it using their mobile phones.
3. When the matter came up for admission, Dr.C.E.Pratap, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondents 1 to 8 would submit that, upon finding that there was serious misconduct, the concerned department had already initiated departmental action against the teachers and charges under Section 17(b) have been issued. As far as the present complaint is concerned, CSR No. 802 of 2024 has been assigned and a preliminary enquiry is being conducted. Further action will be taken in accordance with law if any criminal offence is made out based on the enquiry.
4. Recording the above submissions, the writ petition stands disposed of.
