Respondents Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to give permission to conduct the cultural programme on 07.08.2018 in the event of Sri Ponniamman Koil Festival of Thazhankadu, Marakkanam Taluk, Villupuram District on the petitioner's representation dated 25.07.2018.

ORDER

The petitioner seeks a direction to the respondents to grant permission to conduct the cultural programme of Sri Ponniamman Koil Festival of Thazhankadu, Marakkanam Taluk, Villupuram District on 07.08.2018 considering the petitioner's representation dated 25.07.2018.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is a resident of Thazhankadu Post, Marakkanam Taluk, Villupuram District and also claims to be one of the members of the Vizha Commttee. Since the committee has been conducting the cultural programmes as a part of temple festival every year in a peaceful manner without any untoward incident in the past, he has submitted a representation to the respondent on 25.07.2018 seeking permission to conduct the cultural programme on 07.08.2018. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

As the said representation has not been considered by the respondent so far, the petitioner is before this Court.

The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent objecting to grant permission to the petitioner to conduct the cultural programme submitted that two groups in the same village are asking to conduct the temple festival on two different dates and in the last year, the same was permitted.

However, considering the facts and circumstances of the matter, this Court hereby directs the 2nd respondent, namely, the Inspector of Police, Marakkanam Police Station, Villupuram District to grant permission to the petitioner to conduct a Cultural Program in the event of Sri Ponniamman Koil Festival of Thazhankadu, Marakkanam Taluk, Villupuram District on the petitioner's representation dated 25.7.2018 by giving two different dates to both the parties.

With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
