PETITION under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to hear and dispose of the appeal filed on 20.10.2014 against the order of the District Collector, Perambalur, passed in Rc.No.200/G&M/2012 dated 17.9.2014 on merits within a time frame fixed by this Court.

Mr.S.Diwakar, learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice for the respondent. Heard both. By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

2. The petitioner seeks a direction to the respondent to hear and dispose of the statutory appeal filed by him on 20.10.2014 as against the order passed by the District Collector, Perambalur dated 17.9.2014. By the order dated 17.9.2014, the petitioner's application for the grant of lease for quarrying rough stone and gravel was rejected by the District Collector. As against the said order, the petitioner filed an appeal before the respondent herein. Though the appeal petition was acknowledged by the office of the respondent even on 20.10.2014 itself, as could be seen from the date seal in the acknowledgement/receipt, it is not known as to why the appeal has not yet been disposed of for such a long period.

3. In the light of the above, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to hear and dispose of the petitioner's appeal petition dated 20.10.2014 on merits and in https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
