ORDER
This Writ Petition is filed to issue a Writ of Mandamus to direct the 2nd Respondent to consider and pass orders on the representation of the Petitioners dated 14.7.2016 with regard to postponement of written test, now scheduled to be held on 27.7.2016 in respect of 25 posts in five categories for which notification was issued on 5.2.2016.
2. This court heard the learned counsel on either side and also perused the materials placed on record.
3. According to the Petitioners, there are 25 posts, which have been called for and for 25 posts, only 18 persons had applied. By virtue of the interim order of this court made in another Writ Petition, 6 persons were also permitted to participate and even then, the total number of persons is 24, but there are 25 posts vacant and the Petitioner, who are 14 in number, are equally eligible to participate, but they have not been considered.
4. The learned counsel for the Respondents would contend that already the examination are over, however, the representation of the Petitioners will be considered, on merits and in accordance with law.
5. Taking into consideration that this Writ Petition is only for a Writ of Mandamus, it is for the 1st Respondent to consider as to whether by including the Petitioners also, a larger selection will be made or not and therefore, without going into the merits of the case, the 1st Respondent is directed to dispose of the representation of the Petitioners dated 14.7.2016, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, the connected MPs are closed.
