Respondents Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issue of a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to direct all the Airlines offering their services to fly passengers both in domestic as well as international sectors to inform the passengers at the time of booking of their tickets, about the age of the aircraft normally operated in the sector in which the passenger is booking his ticket, and in case a passenger is going to be carried by an aircraft more than 15 years of age, inform him the same at least few hours prior to departure, giving the option to a Passenger reluctant to travel by a very old aircraft, either to cancel the ticket or permit him to readjust for other flights.

O R D E R

(The Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble The Chief Justice) The Petitioner wants the age of the aircraft in which he travels to be disclosed at the stage of booking the tickets. In support of his submission, he states that The Director General of Civil Aviation has now set up in its website a methodology where anybody can find out the particulars of the aircraft.

2. The Courts are not experts in this field.

3. As to whether the request of the petitioner is something which is feasible and desirable would be for the Director General of Civil Aviation, New Delhi, to consider.

4. The writ petition accordingly stands closed, leaving the parties to bear their own costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
