..Respondents Prayer: Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents in particular the third respondent to change/transfer the name of two electricity service connections vide 8-366 and 8367 to the petitioner's name situated at Old No.144 New No.306 Peter's Road, Gopalapuram, Chennai 600 086, based on the petitioner's representation dated 14.08.2021. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for the issue of a writ of mandamus directing the third respondent to transfer the service connection in the name of the petitioner pertaining to the subject property based on the representation made by the petitioner on 14.08.2021.

2. The petitioner has made a representation to the third respondent seeking for the change of service connection in his name. The petitioner is relying upon the judgment and decree passed by the competent civil Court in O.S.No.13297/1996.

3. When the matter was taken up for admission, the learned standing counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents submitted that a letter has already been sent to the petitioner by the third respondent, dated 22.10.2021 directing the petitioner to make an application in a proper form through online mode. Immediately on receipt of the same, the petitioner has been informed that his request will be considered in line with the materials placed by the petitioner.

4. In view of the specific stand taken by the third respondent, there shall be a direction to the petitioner to make a fresh application to the third respondent through online mode. The third respondent shall process the application based on the materials given by the petitioner to substantiate his right over the property. In any event, the third respondent shall take a decision within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of the online application from the petitioner.

5. This writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
