Respondents in both W.P's COMMON PRAYER: Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the claims of the petitioner for promotion to the post of High School Headmaster by amending the Rules suitable if necessary and include the post Vocational Instructor (Computer Science) as a feeder category to the post of High School Headmaster and promote the petitioner as a High School Headmaster with all benefits.

C O M M O N O R D E R These Writ petitions have been filed by the petitioners for seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to consider the claims of the petitioner for promotion to the post of High School Headmaster by amending the Rules suitable if necessary and include the post Vocational Instructor (Computer Science) as a feeder category to the post of High School Headmaster and promote the petitioner as a High School Headmaster with all benefits.

2. I heard the submissions of Mr.G.Elanchezhiyan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.A.Raja Perumal, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submit that the petitioner has given a representation on 24.05.2010 to the 1st petitioner and the 2nd petitioner's representation dated 25.05.2010, both the petitioners' are requesting the respondent to include their name for the post of High School Headmaster amending the rules suitably if necessary and include their names to the post of Vocational Instructor (Computer Science) as a feeder category. Since the first petitioner has given a representation on 24.05.2010 and the 2nd petitioner's has given representation dated 25.05.2010 and the same are pending for the past seven years without any further progress.

4. Hence, without going into the merits of the case, I am inclined to direct the second respondent/ Director of School Education, Chennai to pass orders on the petitioners' representations by giving personal opportunity to the petitioners, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, these writ petitions are disposed of accordingly. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
