O R D E R

(Order of the Court was made by G.Jayachandran J.) The petitioners herein have given a representation to the 2nd respondent on 02.06.2026 for issuance of community certificates based on their mother's origin. According to the petitioners, their mother belongs to the Hindu AdiDravida community. Though their father also belongs to the same community, he does not possess the required proof of origin in Puducherry. However, their mother has enough proof that she is the origin of Puducherry. Therefore, based on the mother's origin, the petitioners pray for issuance of mandamus.

2. According to the petitioners, their mother belongs to the Hindu AdiDravida community and she along with her parents are indigenous residents of Puducherry. Though, their father also belongs to same community, he does not possess the required proof of origin of Puducherry. Hence, based on their mother's origin, the petitioners have prayed for issuance of community certificates.

3. The Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that the applications made by the petitioner are under consideration in the light of the Presidential Order dated 05.03.1964; the subsequent Circulars and Official Memorandums issued from time to time. Based on the judicial pronouncements rendered so far, necessary decision will be taken on their applications in accordance with law.

4. Recording the above submission, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the 2nd respondent to pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
