Respondent Prayer:- Writ petitions filed under Section 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to consider representation dated 30.01.2016 for education loan of a sum of Rs.4.72 lakhs to my son S.Hariharan, passed plus two and joined BE (Bio Medical) on merit in Vel Tech Multi Tech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College, Vel Tech Road, Avadi, Chennai - 600 062 in 2015-16 batch by allotment order dated 08.07.2015 issued by the Secretary, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, Anna University, Chennai within a specified period fixed by this Court. O R D E R

The petitioner seeks for a direction to the respondent bank to sanction educational loan of Rs.4,72,000/- to enable his son to pursue higher studies.

2. The petitioner is employed as a bakery master. According to the petitioner, with the small earnings from the shop, he has provided him education upto the higher secondary level. It is stated that the petitioner's son will be the first graduate in the family. It is further stated that the petitioner's son applied for B.E. (Bio Medical) for the academic year 2015-2016 through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, Anna University, Chennai and he was selected to pursue B.E. (Bio Medical) course for the academic year 2015-2016 in Vel Tech Multi Tech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College, Vel Tech Road, Avadi, Chennai - 600 062. As the petitioner could not pay the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

fee for the course and he is having only a meager income, the petitioner's son applied for grant of educational loan with the respondent bank. It is stated by the petitioner that along with the loan application, his son has enclosed all the requisite testimonials for grant of educational loan. In spite of the same, the loan amount sought for by the petitioner's son has not been sanctioned, hence, the petitioner has filed this writ petition.

The learned counsel appearing for the respondent bank would submit that the application submitted by the petitioner's son will be considered by the respondent bank in accordance with the guidelines issued by I.B.I. It is also submitted that certain other details are required to be submitted by the petitioner's son, which the respondent bank will collect from the petitioner's son and thereafter process the application submitted by him.

Having regard to the avocation of the petitioner that he is employed as a bakery master and the fact that the petitioner's son had submitted all the requisite testimonials along with the application for educational loan, the respondent bank is directed to consider the loan application of the petitioner's son by taking into consideration his economical back ground and that of his father and pass appropriate orders thereon as expeditiously as possible, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.

With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
