ORDER
(made by SATISH K. AGNIHOTRI, J.) Mrs. A. Srijayanthi, learned Special Government Pleader, accepts notice for the respondents. With consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal, at the admission stage itself.
This writ petition is filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the second respondent to issue "Solia Vellalar" community certificate to the petitioner on the basis of his representation dated 06 July 2015.
The petitioner, claiming to be belonging to Solia Vellalar caste, made an application on 06 July 2015 to the second respondent, viz., the Tahsildar, Thiruthuraipoondi Taluk, seeking such community certificate to him, for the purpose of https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
his children's higher education. Not stopping with that, the petitioner made another application on 21 July 2015 to the first respondent, viz., the District Collector, Thiruvarur, seeking the same relief. Since neither of his two applications has been acted upon, the petitioner has filed the instant writ petition seeking the aforestated relief.
In view of the limited scope of the relief sought by the petitioner, without going into the merits of the case, we direct the second respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's application dated 06 July 2015 on its own merits and in accordance with law, in the light of the decision rendered by a Division Bench of this Court, wherein, one of us (Satish K. Agnihotri, J.) was a Member, in G. Venkitasamy and V.Balasubramaniam vs. The Chairman, State Level Scrutiny Committee and Secretary to Government Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, Namakkal Kavingar Maaligai, Fort St. George, Secretariat, Chennai-91. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
The writ petition stands disposed of with the above directions. Costs made easy.
