O R D E R
(Order of the Court was made by G.Jayachandran J.) The petitioner herein is the mother of two children namely NithishKumar and Deveshkumar, claims that she belongs to Hindu Adi-Dravida Community and the permanent resident of Puducherry. She has applied for community certificates to her children. The petitioner made representation dated 29.05.2026 addressed to the 2nd respondent, alleging that the representation has not been considered and was orally denied on the ground that, based on the mother's origin, the certificate would not be issued. Hence, she is before this Court seeking mandamus directing the authorities to issue community certificates.
2. The Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that the applications made by the petitioner are under consideration in the light of the Presidential Order dated 05.03.1964; the subsequent Circulars and Official Memorandums issued from time to time. Based on the judicial pronouncements rendered so far, necessary decision will be taken on her applications in accordance with law.
3. Recording the above submission, this Writ Petition is disposed of with direction to the 2nd respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner Page Nos.2/5
and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
