ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by Dr.G.Jayachandran J.) The petitioner herein claims that she was born and brought up at Dariyalatippa Village in the Yanam region and belongs to a Schedule Caste as per the Constitution (Puducherry) Scheduled Castes Order, 1964. She submitted an application to the Deputy Collector, Yanam, seeking community certificates for her children, which has not yet been considered. Hence, the present Writ Petition has been filed for a Writ of Mandamus to direct the Deputy Tahsildar, Yanam, to issue community certificates to the petitioner's sons. 2.

On perusal of the documents filed along with the writ petition, we find that the request seeking the community certificates, addressed to the Deputy Collector (Revenue), was received by the Office of the Regional Administrator, Yanam, on 22.05.2026. The same was forwarded to the Taluk office, Yanam and received by its despatch section on 01.06.2026. 3.

Whereas, the writ petition was filed the very next day, on 02.06.2026 and it is not even clear whether, on the date of filing this petition, the representation had reached the Taluk office and gone to the table of the Tahsildar. In any event, we dispose of the writ petition, directing the respondents to consider the representation within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

The learned Additional Government Pleader (Puducherry) submitted that the petitioner's representation will be considered and appropriate orders will be passed in accordance with law, keeping in mind the relevant Presidential Orders, official memorandums issued from time to time and the judicial pronouncements on the subject.

Recording the said submissions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
