O R D E R

Mr. U.Baranidharan, learned Government Counsel, takes notice for the respondents 1, 2 and 3.

This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents to act upon the representation made by the petitioner on 17.9.2021 wherein, the petitioner has sought for permission to erect the bunk shop under the category of a disabled person.

Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents. 4.

In the considered view of this Court, the Corporation of Chennai does not have the power or jurisdiction to grant such a permission, after the coming into force of the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood Regulation) Act, 2014. The petitioner has to necessarily make a representation only before the Township Vending Committee and seek for the necessary relief. The petitioner is granted liberty to approach the Vending Committee and work out her remedy.

This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
