This application has been filed seeking permission to the Official Trustee of Tamil Nadu to utilize Rs.4,82,510/-(Rupees Four Lakhs Eighty Two Thousand Five hundred and Ten Only) out of the net income of FYs 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 of the Trust Estate of O.S.Gangadharan Pillai to award scholarships to 26 students for the academic years 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 as detailed in the list annexed with this application.
3. The submissions of learned Administrator General and Official Trustee are as follows:
(i) the Office of the Administrator General and Official Trustee of Tamil Nadu is a statutory body that performs charities and other objectives as per the Will of the Testator. The Trust Estate of O.S.Ganghadharan Pillai was originally under the administration of Administrator General of Tamil Nadu 1/8
under the Letters of Administration with a copy of Will executed by O.S.Ganghadharan Pillai, granted to him in TOS No. 5 of 1941 (OP No. 84 of 1941). Subsequently, this estate was ordered to be transferred to the Official Trustee of Tamil Nadu and since then the Trust Estate of O.S.Ganghadharan Pillai is under the administration of the office of the Administrator General and Official Trustee of Tamil Nadu. (ii)the Will of O.S.Ganghadharan Pillai contemplates providing scholarships to poor and intelligent boys and girls who are hereditary Saivities, born in the Saiva Vellala Caste, i.e. in the first place, Karkathar Sect, second Thondaimandalam hereditary Mudaliars and Chettimars.
(iii)to fulfill the said object, the Office of the Administrator General and Official Trustee of Tamil Nadu have invited applications for award of scholarship for the years 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 in the prescribed format through advertisement in Daily Thanthi dated 11.10.2020 for the fulfillment of the objectives of the Will of the Testator.

The total net income available for FYs 2017-18, 2018-19 & 2019-20 in the Trust Estate of O.S.G. Pillai is Rs. 14,86,236/- (Rupees Fourteen Lakhs Eighty Six Thousand Two Hundred and Thirty Six Only). In the year 2016-2017, scholarship was awarded to 14 students, for a sum of Rs1,40,000/- (Rupees One Lakh and Forty Thousand Only) and was distributed according to their educational qualifications as per the order of this Court dated 27.09.2019 in Application No.7100 of 2019 in T.O.S. No.5 of 1941.
(x)the Office of the Administrator General and Official Trustee of Tamil Nadu requires a sum of Rs.4,82,510/-(Rupees Four Lakhs Eighty Two Thousand Five hundred and Ten Only) for awarding scholarship for 26 eligible 6/8
students for the academic years 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. The details of the names of the candidates and the proposed amount of scholarship are annexed herewith.
Submitting as above, learned Administrator General and Official Trustee prays for the above relief.

Considering the submissions made, this Court grants permission to the Official Trustee of Tamil Nadu to utilize Rs.4,82,510/-(Rupees Four Lakhs Eighty Two Thousand Five hundred and Ten Only) out of the net income of FYs 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 of the Trust Estate of O.S.Gangadharan Pillai to award scholarships to 26 students for the academic years 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 as detailed in the list annexed with this application.
