The petitioners, who were arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 18.07.2022 for the offences punishable under Sections 147, 148, 294(b), 323, 324, 332, 336, 353, 435, 436, 379 and 506 (ii) of IPC read with 3, 4 and 5 of T.N.P.P.D.L. in Crime No.236 of 2022 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that on the 17.07.2022, the petitioners along with other accused persons jointly held protest as against the respondent police. At that time, they had stolen jewels and cash. Hence, the complaint.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners were arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 18.07.2022. Hence, he prays for grant of bail to the petitioner.

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent would submit that there are 26 known accused persons and 424 unknown accused persons. The petitioners herein are arrayed as A4 and A88.

So far 156 accused persons were arrested and 95 accused persons were released on bail. As far as the 1st petitioner/A4 is concerned, he had damaged the back side compound wall and gate of the school. As far as the 2nd petitioner/A88 is concerned, he damaged the school correspondent's residence. All the occurrence had took place inside the school campus. The total cost of the damages caused by all the accused persons is about Rs.15 Crores. Hence, he vehemently opposed to grant bail to the petitioners.

5. Considering the above submissions, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioners and this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 25.08.2022 mpl
