ORDER

Mr.V.Shanmuga Sundar, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the respondent.

2. This writ petition has been filed for a Mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondent to dispose of the petitioner's appeal dated 27.09.2016 filed under the Arms Act pending on the file of the respondent, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

3. Aggrieved by the order dated 08.09.2016 passed by the District Collector cum District Magistrate rejecting the petitioner's application seeking for Gun licence, the petitioner preferred a statutory appeal before the respondent on 27.09.2016, which is still pending on the file of the respondent. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

4. The petitioner in this writ petition seeks for early disposal of his statutory appeal as according to him, there is some urgency in getting the gun license.

5. Heard Mr.D.R.Arun Kumar, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.V.Shanmuga Sundar, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

6. The relief sought for in this writ petition is an innocuous relief. No prejudice would be caused to the respondent, if the relief is granted in favour of the petitioner. He seeks ONLY for an early disposal of the statutory appeal pending on the file of the respondent, which was admittedly filed in the year 2016 itself.

7. For the foregoing reasons, this Court directs the respondent to dispose of the appeal filed by the petitioner under the Arms Act on 27.09.2016, after affording sufficient opportunity to the petitioner to raise all his contentions with regard to his application and pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

8. With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
