ORDER

(Made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.S.Sathiyanarayanan, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr.P.Muthukumar, learned State Government Pleader, assisted by Mr.K.Karthik Jegannath, learned Government Advocate, for the first respondent and Mr.P.Muniapparaj, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, for respondents 2 to 5.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that numerous applications are given to the respondent authorities for regulating the traffic. The width of the road is very narrow and the four wheelers coming from the opposite side cause congestion. No steps are taken to regulate the traffic in the writ area.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor for respondents 2 to 5 submits that pursuant to the representation of the petitioner and other persons in the locality, steps have been taken by the respondents. The sign of 'entry' and 'no entry' has been placed. The learned counsel submits that permanent sign board will be erected within a fortnight. Speed breakers are also installed. It is also submitted that fines are also collected from the owners of the offending vehicles and the traffic is being regulated now.

4. It is the duty of the traffic police to regulate the smooth flow of vehicles and traffic. It appears that some steps are being taken. However, continuous monitoring of the traffic would be required. The respondents shall monitor the traffic and regulate the same in proper manner.

With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
