ORDER
By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2. This writ petition has been filed for a direction, directing the respondents herein to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 27.02.2025 and 20.06.2026 and grant property tax exemption to Vasavi Sri Kannika parameshwari Amman Temple, Tittakudi, Cuddalore District.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner is the president of Kannika Parameswari Trust, Tittakudi, Cuddalore District. The temple is situated in 29 cents of land comprised in Old S.No.64/1A2B1 and New S.No.111/1 and they are paying property tax for the Thirumana Mandapam and the said Hall forms part of the temple. It is the grievance of the petitioner that as per Section 83 of the Tamilnadu District Municipalities Act, temple is exempted from levy of property tax, hence, the petitioner submitted a representation on 27.02.2025 to the Commissioner and representation to the first respondent on 20.06.2025, however, the same is pending without consideration. Hence, this writ petition.
4. Heard both sides and perused the materials placed on record.
5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court without going into the merits of the case directs the respondents to consider the representations of the petitioner dated 27.02.2025 & 20.06.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order.
6. Accordingly, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. 19-06-2026
