By consent this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal.

The petitioner claims to be a resident of Perumalkovil Street, Padrampallam Village, Chinnasalem Taluk, Villupuram District has submitted an application dated 20.01.2012, to the second respondent praying for issuance of Family/Ration card and he also was given acknowledgment No.150/2012 and though nearly four years had lapsed, no orders have been passed and therefore, submitted a reminder dated 01.03.2016 and despite

that he is yet to be favoured with any kind of response and hence, came forward to file this writ petition.

3. Heard the submissions of Mr.V.Gunasekar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.S.Navaneethan, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, who would submit that in the absence of any relevant particulars as to the members of the family, there may be some difficultly in considering the application submitted by the petitioner for issuance of Family/Ration Card.

4. This Court has considered the rival submissions and also perused the materials before it.

5. If the second respondent is of the view that the application submitted by the petitioner is defective, he should have returned the application, calling upon the petitioner to comply with the deficiency and it had not been done so, but kept the application for nearly four years.

6. In the light of the facts and circumstances, this Court, directs the second respondent to consider the application of the petitioner dated 20.01.2012, as well as the reminder dated 01.03.2016, in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner.
