This writ petition is filed to direct the respondent to cancel the RC book of the car bearing No.TN-18AH-2560 in the light of petitioner's representation dated 07.01.2025.

2. With the consent of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

The petitioner purchased a Mahendra nuvo sport car bearing Reg.No.TN18-AH-2560 in the year 2016 and insured it with Acko General Insurance Company Limited for the period from 10.12.2021 to 09.12.2022. Unfortunately, on 21.08.2022, the car met with an accident and was extensively damaged beyond repair. Therefore, the petitioner approached the insurance company for the insurance claim. In the meanwhile, the petitioner also applied on 07.01.2025, for cancellation of Registration Certificate, to the Regional Transport Office, Redhills, by remitting requisite fees. But no action was taken on the petitioner's application. Hence, the petitioner filed the above writ petition for the aforesaid relief.
4. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader, appearing for the respondent and perused the materials available on record.

Under the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the respondent to consider the application of the petitioner dated 07.01.2025, in the light of the communication of the insurance company dated 17.02.2025, and to pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
