The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 17.07.2022 for the offences punishable under Sections 147, 148, 450, 294(b), 323, 324, 332, 336, 353, 435, 436, 379 and 506 (ii) of IPC read with 3, 4 and 5 of T.N.P.P.D.L. in Crime No.236 of 2022 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that on the 17.07.2022, the petitioners along with other accused persons jointly held protest as against the respondent police. At that time, they had stolen jewels and cash. Hence, the complaint.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 17.07.2022. Hence, he prays for grant of bail to the petitioner.

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent would submit that there are 26 known accused persons and 424 unknown accused persons. So far 156 accused persons were arrested and 95

accused persons were released on bail. All the occurrence had took place inside the school campus. The total cost of the damages caused by all the accused persons is about Rs.15 Crores. Hence, he vehemently opposed to grant bail to the petitioner.

5. Considering the above submissions, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner and this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 25.08.2022 mpl
