The petitioner, who apprehends arrest for the alleged offences punishable under Sections 182, 318 (4), 336 (3), 338, 339 r/w 62 of the BNS, 2023 in Crime No.408 of 2024, on the file of the respondent police seeks anticipatory bail.

The case of the prosecution is that on receipt of the secret information on 16.07.2024, when the respondent police was on patrol duty near MTC Koyambedu bus stand, the petitioner was found in possession of counterfeit currency of 19 bundles of Rs.500/- totally about Rs.10,00,000/-. Hence the complaint.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he had been falsely implicated in this case. However, on instructions, the learned counsel further submits that the petitioner, on his own volition, is ready and willing to contribute some amount to any Charitable Purpose as directed by this Court. Hence, he seeks for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner. 1/4

4. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submits that on receipt of the secret information on 16.07.2024, when the respondent police was on patrol duty near MTC Koyambedu bus stand, the petitioner was found in possession of counterfeit currency of 19 bundles of Rs.500/- totally about Rs.10,00,000/-. Hence, he vehemently opposed to grant bail to the petitioner, and it needs detailed investigation.

Considering the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), and the possession counterfeit currency is in a huge number, which needs detailed investigation, at this stage, and also considering the gravity of the offence committed by the petitioner, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.
