ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for the issue of writ of Mandamus seeking for a direction to the 2 nd respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 05.03.2025 wherein the petitioner is seeking for issuance of death certificate to the petitioner's mother P. Rukmani. 2.

Heard Mr.B.Janarth Kumar, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.T.M.Rajangam, learned Government Advocate for respondents 1 and 2. 3.

The case of the petitioner is that his mother Rukmani was married to one Mr.Devaraj in the year 1978. The petitioner was born on 09.09.1981 and on the date of birth of the petitioner, the mother passed away. The petitioner did not take any immediate steps to get the death certificate. Ultimately, the petitioner submitted an application seeking for death certificate. Since the same was not considered, a representation was made on 05.03.2025 to the respondents. The same also did not evoke any response. It is under these circumstances, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court. 4.

When the matter was taken up for hearing today, the learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondents produced the written instructions received from the 2 nd respondent. The relevant portion is extracted hereunder:-

It is seen from the above that already the 2 nd respondent is in the process of dealing with the application submitted by the petitioner. Hence, the petitioner is directed to go over to the office of the 2 nd respondent and comply with the procedure that has to be followed by the petitioner. On compliance of the same, the 2 nd respondent shall issue the death certificate to the petitioner. This process shall be completed within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

This writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
