This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the third respondent to deal with the representation made by the petitioner on 14.03.2025 wherein the petitioner is seeking for appointment of a fit person to look after the administration of the Arulmighu Sri Sellathammal alias Sri Asaka Mariamman Tirukoil situated at Kottaiyur Village, Valangaiman Taluk, Tiruvarur District.
2. Heard Mr.K.A.Mariappan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.N.R.R.Arun Natarajan, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for respondents.
3. The petitioner claims to be the hereditary poojari of the temple. The petitioner has made certain allegations against the trustees of the temple on the ground that they are mismanaging and misappropriating the funds. Hence, the petitioner submitted a representation before the third respondent and the third respondent, through communication dated 27.05.2025 informed the petitioner that the representation has been forwarded to the Inspector and a report has been sought for. Thereafter, there was absolutely no progress. It is under these circumstances, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court. 2/4

Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the fact that the representation made by the petitioner has already been acted upon by the third respondent and a report has been sought for from the Inspector, there shall be a direction to the third respondent to take a decision on its own merits and in accordance with law, after affording opportunity to the trustees of the temple and convey the same to the petitioner within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. This writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
