Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C. seeking a direction to the 2nd respondent herein to "Give Police Protection" to the petitioner and her husband namely Gopalakrishnan and his family.

O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the 2nd respondent herein to give police protection to the petitioner and her husband namely Gopalakrishnan and his family.

2. It is seen that this petitioner got married to one Gopalakrishnan and their marriage was an inter-caste marriage. It is the case of the petitioner that her parents and other family members are harassing her and therefore, she has filed the present petition, seeking police protection.

3. In Lata Singh Vs. State of Uttar Pradesh and another [(2006) 5 SCC 475], the Supreme Court has directed the instrumentalities of the State to encourage the intercaste marriage and give police protection to the said couples.

4. In view of the above, liberty is granted to the petitioner to approach the second respondent police with a petition seeking police protection and on such petition being given, the same shall be enquired into by the second

respondent and necessary police protection shall be given to the petitioner and her husband, so that no harm befall them. With the above direction, this petition is ordered, accordingly.
