These writ petitions were adjourned earlier pursuant to the request made by the learned Senior Counsel for the Railways that

the Railway is in the process of recalling the earlier order dated 31 August 2009. The learned Senior Counsel at that point of time submitted that in case a fresh order is passed cancelling the earlier order dated 31 August 2009, there would be no need for factual adjudication of the writ petitions. Accordingly the matters were adjourned.

2. When the writ petitions were taken up for consideration today, the learned Senior Counsel for the Railways produced a copy of the proceedings dated 27 February 2017 cancelling the order dated 31 August 2009, which was the subject matter in the Original Applications before the Tribunal in respect of which, the present writ petitions are filed.

3. In view of the order dated 27 February 2017 cancelling the earlier order dated 31 August 2009, nothing survives for adjudication in the writ petitions.

4. The writ petitions are closed with the above observation. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
