O R D E R

This petition has been filed to direct the 6th respondent to provide police protection to the Audi Festival, which commences from 09.08.2016 to 13.08.2016 in Mariamman Temple situated in Samichettipatti Village, Nallampalli Taluk, Dharmapuri District.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner; learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents and perused the materials placed on record.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that, he belongs to Vanniyar community and the Mariamman Temple in Samichettipatti Village is being managed by the members of the Vanniyar and Okkalikkar Community. It appears that, in connection with the Audi month celebration in the said Temple, a Peace Committee Meeting was convened by the Revenue Authorities on 04.08.2015, in which, it was agreed that the Audi month festival for the year 2015 will be conducted by the Vanniyar community. For the Audi month festival for the year 2016, the petitioner has given a representation dated 21.07.2016 to the respondents and has come up with this petition for a direction to the respondents to give Police protection to the members of the Vanniyar community for the conducting celebration.

4. It is seen that the petitioner has sent the representation dated 21.07.2016 by post.

Hence, the petitioner is directed to go in-person and give a representation to the 6th respondent Police and on such representation being given, the Police is directed to enquire both the parties and take action in accordance with law. With the above direction, this petition is closed. No costs.
