Writ petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to release of the petitioner namely Sakthi @ Sivasakthi, S/o. Rajaram @ Ragavan, aged 45 years, Life Convict, now confined in the Central Prison, Coimbatore, under the scheme of G.O.(Ms). No.430 for premature release of life convicts, within a reasonable period and thus render justice.

Mr.C.R.Malarvannan Counsel For Government Of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) Order (Order of the Court was made by Dr.Anita Sumanth J.) The petitioner is a life convict and confined in Central Prison, Coimbatore. According to him, he has been incarcerated for more than 28 years and is hence entitled to pre-mature release in terms of G.O.(Ms).No.488, Home (Prison-IV) Department, dated 15.11.2021. He has made a representation on 06.05.2026 before the respondents seeking early release. He has approached this Court on account of the non-disposal of the same.

2. Mr.C.R.Malarvannan, learned counsel for the Government of Tamil Nadu (Criminial Side), has instructions to state that the representation has been received and he assures the Court and the petitioner that the same will be disposed expeditiously and in any event, within a period of three (3) weeks from today.

3. Recording the aforesaid submission, we direct the authorities to pass orders on the representation of the petitioner dated 06.05.2026 in line with the extant Rules and Regulations, within a period of three (3) weeks from today.

4. This Writ Petition is disposed as above.
