O R D E R

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents police to give adequate police protection to the petitioners and their family members to lead their married life, pursuant to the complaint dated 28.07.2018 made by the first petitioner's father.

2. The first petitioner is a Hindu and the second petitioner is a Muslim and they were in love and despite opposition from the family members, they have eloped and got married on 27.07.2018.

Under such circumstances, the petitioners are before this Court seeking police protection.

3. In Lata Singh Vs. State of Uttar Pradesh and another [(2006) 5 SCC 475], the Supreme Court has directed the instrumentalities of the State to support and encourage the intercaste marriages and give sufficient police protection to the said couple.

4. In view of the above, the first petitioner is directed to appear before the first respondent police and give a representation and on such representation being given, the couple should be given sufficient police protection, so that no harm befall them.
