PRAYER: The writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for issuance of a writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents namely 1 to 4 to consider and pass orders on the representation of the petitioner sent on 20.04.2022 within a stipulated time.

ORDER

By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2.The petitioner claims that he is a joint owner of the agricultural property along with the 5th respondent and now complains that the authorities have transferred the electricity connection held in the name of the 5th respondent to the latter son Muthukumar. The petitioner submits that he has filed a representation to cancel the same.

3.Heard Mrs.Daniel Mary, the learned standing counsel for the TANGEDCO.

4.What the petitioner appears to miss here is that a joint ownership over the property, which is entirely different from holding an electricity connection. Any service holder is merely a licensee of the TANGEDCO for obtaining electricity and for the petitioner to claim co-ownership over an electricity connection may not fit into the terms of contract which he had entered into with the TANGEDCO. Having said that, this is now upto the authorities to consider and dispose of the representation dated 20.04.2022 of the petitioner within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5.This writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. No costs. 02.08.2023 kas Index : Yes / No To.
