ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated nil, which was received by the respondent on 02.03.2021, on merits and in accordance with law within a reasonable time as may be fixed by this Court.
2. Heard Mr.M.Radhakrishnan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.K.Rajkumar, learned Standing Counsel for the respondent.
3. The petitioner who applied to the post of Gangman (trainee) in response to the advertisement of the respondent, was not selected. Now he has filed this Writ Petition claiming that the candidates who had obtained lesser marks than the petitioner was appointed to the said post, but the petitioner was not selected and hence, he filed this Writ Petition seeking the above direction.

4. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent submitted on instructions that the petitioner has applied to the post of Gangman under Scheduled Caste Category. As per the records, the petitioner had obtained 47 marks but the minimum cut off is 65 marks and hence, the petitioner did not reach the zone of consideration. Therefore, he was not selected for the said post. Even though the petitioner was eligible and found successful in the physical test, when he was admitted to the written examination, he has secured only 47 marks. The petitioner had submitted the said facts in the affidavit filed along with this petition.
5. The minimum marks for selection of the candidates under the category of Scheduled Caste is 65 marks. Since the petitioner did not reach the cut-off marks, he cannot be considered for selection for the post of Gangman (Trainee). Since the petitioner has not reached the zone of consideration, his representation cannot be considered favourably by the respondent.

6. In view of the above stated reasons, this Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs.
