encroachment on vital water bodies specifically at Survey Numbers 179-3A, 181-3B situate at Kannanur Village and all feeder canal's of Maruthamalai Lake, Chetpet Taluk, Tiruvannamalai District by land grabbers and pass such further orders.

ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice) This Writ Petition has been filed for a Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 27.05.2024 for removing the encroachments on vital water bodies specifically at Survey Numbers 179-3A, 181-3B situate at Kannanur Village and all feeder canal's of Maruthamalai Lake, Chetpet Taluk, Tiruvannamalai District by land grabbers.
2. Mr.A.Edwin Prabhakar, learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, informed this Court that on verification of the records, the lands in S.No.181/3B is classified as Government
Poromboke Annatheenam in which the fourth respondent had put up shed and a permanent construction, the lands in S.No.179/3A is classified as Government Poromboke Water Body "Paatai" in which the fifth respondent had put up a shed and the lands in S.Nos.173, 174, 175 and 181 at Kannanur Village are patta lands belonging to private parties and in such circumstances, necessary action will be taken by the respondents for removal of encroachments after conducting survey and by following the procedure as contemplated under the rules.
3. In the light of the aforesaid submission made by the learned Government Pleader for the respondents, we direct the third respondent Tahsilar and the Executive Officer of the Panchayat concerned, to take necessary action for removal of encroachments by following the procedure contemplated under the Rules. The aforesaid exercise shall be completed within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
4. With the above directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
