For R1 In 2 WPs Mr.C.S.K.Sathish, SC For R2 In 2 WPs COMMON ORDER These writ petitions have been filed to direct the respondents-Transport Corporation to pay interest on the belated payment of terminal benefits, specifically the Commutation of Pension amount and CRBS amount to the petitioners at the rate of 6% per annum, for the period from their respective dates of retirement i.e., on 30.04.2018 and 31.10.2016 to the date of settlement.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners were ex-employees of the respondents-Transport Corporation. After attaining the age of superannuation, the petitioners were retired from their service respectively. However, their terminal benefits, specifically the Commutation of Pension amount and CRBS amount were paid belatedly without paying any interest. It is the submission of the petitioners that they are Page No.3 of 6
entitled for the interest for the belated payment. In this regard, they have submitted representations dated 16.06.2025 and 18.06.2025 respectively to the respondents-Transport Corporation.

The learned Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the Transport Corporation would fairly concede that in view of the similar orders passed by this Court in W.P.Nos.40031, 33742 and 35806 of 2024, they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.
4. In view of the above submission, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits to the petitioners, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above directions, these Writ Petitions stand disposed of. No costs.
