Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issue of Writ of Mandamus commanding the fifth respondent to conduct a comprehensive time-bound investigation into the multicrore Tamil Nadu Police Fake Deposit Receipt Scam and monitor the same, in the light of the shocking details narrated.

(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) The petitioner has originally preferred the petition as Public Interest Litigation seeking a comprehensive time-bound investigation into what is alleged as multi-crore Tamil Nadu Police Fake Deposit Receipts Scam. It is the case of the petitioner that he had come across innumerable instances of Fake Deposit Receipts fabricated by the Police and the values inflated by means of innumerable bogus charge sheets and extortion resorted to by the Police officers.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner states that trial of the case was to commence in Coimbatore couple of years back, but he is not aware of the stage of the case. Petitioner has also not made an endeavour to follow up the matter and thus, we are of the view that continuation of this Public Interest Litigation would serve no purpose, when trial has proceeded.
