This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents herein to assign lands to the petitioner at free of cost pursuant to petitioner's representation dated 24.06.2024 and the recommendations dated 27.05.2024 by the 2nd respondent herein.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents and perused the entire materials available on record.
3. Petitioner and her husband are residents of Palayanur Valasai Village, Tiruvannamalai. The petitioner has no property and she was residing with her husband in her relative's house and are working as daily wage labourer. They have no children or other means of support and hence they have requested the Government for a free patta for a residential plot. In the meanwhile, Palayanur Panchayat passed resolutions recommending the assignment of land to the petitioner in natham poramboke land in Survey No.136/26 of Palayanur Page 2/5
Village. These resolutions were forwarded to the appropriate authorities, but no action has been taken till date. In this regard, the petitioner submitted a representation on 20.04.2024 to the respondents requesting land allotment. As there was no response, this writ petition has been filed.

Considering the limited relief sought for in this writ petition, the first respondent, namely the District Collector, Tiruvannamalai District, is directed to consider the repreentation of the petitioner dated 20.04.2024 on its own merits and in accordance with law for a free house site patta. If the petitioner really deserves for allotment of land, such exercise shall be completed within a period of two months from the date of receipt of copy of this order. If she is not found to be deserving, lands cannot be assigned.
