... Respondents PRAYER: The Contempt Petition is filed under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, to punish the respondent herein for wilful disobedience of the order passed by this Court dated 24.02.2021 in W.P.No.3409 of 2015.

O R D E R

The petitioners were directed to pay interest to the petitioner for a sum of Rs.10,35,74,823/-. But, it was not paid within the time stipulated by this Court. Hence, the petitioner filed a Contempt Petition before this Court.

2. During the course of arguments, the respondents have filed an affidavit seeking permission to adjust the interest payable to the petitioner in six

(6) equal monthly installments against Current Consumption charges to be made by the petitioner's H.T. Service Connection from the billing month of 03/2022 onwards. The affidavit filed by the Superintending Engineer, CEDC/ North/ Chennai - 02 is taken on file and the same shall form part of the records.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would oppose the number of installments sought for by the respondents.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the respondents are permitted to adjust the interest of Rs.10,35,74,823/- from the Current Consumption Charges to be made by the petitioner's H.T. Service Connection from the billing month of 03/2022 in four (4) equal monthly installments.

The Contempt Petition is closed with the above terms. If the order of this Court is not strictly complied with, the petitioner is at liberty to reopen the same SD/- ASSISTANT REGISTRAR(COMM.CASES) asi //Certified to be true copy// Dated at Madras this the day of 2022. COURT OFFICER(O.S.) from 25th day of September 2008 the Registry is issuing Certified copies of the Orders/Judgments/Decrees in this format.
