O R D E R
This petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to issue passport to the petitioner vide file No.TR1076231870924 dated 06.02.2024.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that he is an Indian citizen and he made application for passport before the second respondent on 06.02.2024. The said respondent issued clarification notice dated 05.06.2024 for explanation about the police verification report stating that to provide suitable explanation within 30 days and also required to furnish a proper explanation. After receiving the said letter, the petitioner appeared in person and given a proper reply about the police verification report in FIR No.109/2020 and the same has been withdrawn by the Tamil Nadu Government in G.O.Ms.No.368 on 04.09.2021 for withdrawal of cases registered against the Press, Farmers for protesting against the three agricultural acts. The petitioner approached the second respondent several
times but no action is taken. Hence, the present petition.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this Court may direct the respondent to issue passport to the petitioner within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.
4. The learned Government Advocate submitted that in respect of the FIR. No.109/2020 has been withdrawn by the Government and action was dropped.
4. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the second respondent submitted that the application will be considered after due procedure within the time frame as fixed by this Court.
5. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents, and perused the materials available on record.
6. Recording the submission made by the learned counsel appearing
for the parties, this Court directs the respondent to consider the petitioners application and pass appropriate orders on merits within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
7. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
