ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent police to expedite the investigation in Crime No.248 of 2012 and file final report within a stipulated period of time.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the State.

3. On the complaint lodged by the petitioner, the respondent police registered a case in Cr.No.248 of 2012 on 14.02.2012 for jewel missing.

4. It is the case of the petitioner that she was travelling by SRM Travels, A.C. Bus, from Kumbakonam to Chennai on 13.02.2012 with her bag containing ornaments. She has also given the phone number of a co-passenger, but, not his name. It is not known as to how the petitioner knew the mobile number of the co-passenger, who is said to have got down at Perungalathur.

5. In a case of this nature, no positive direction can be issued to the respondent police, to complete the investigation in a time bound manner. However, the respondent police is directed to expeditiously conduct the investigation and either https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

file a closure report or charge sheet, as the case may be, under due intimation to the petitioner.

6. With the above observation and direction, the Criminal Original Petition is closed.
