Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of Habeas Corpus directing the Inspector of Police, P-2, Otteri Police Station, Chennai District, to produce the petitioner's son Abimanyu, son of late Kumar, aged 25 years, before this Court and set him at liberty forthwith. [Order of the Court was made by P.N.PRAKASH, J.] This habeas corpus petition has been filed seeking to direct the first respondent/police to produce the petitioner's son Abimanyu, son of late Kumar, aged 25 years, before this Court and set him at liberty forthwith.

It is the case of the petitioner that her son Abimanyu, aged about 25 years, went missing from 22.09.2021 and thereafter, his whereabouts are not known. It is the grievance of the petitioner that despite her complaint, no steps have been taken by the police to secure her son.

On instructions, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that on a complaint given by the petitioner, a case in Otteri Police Station Crime No.1361 of 2021 has been registered on 23.09.2021 for 'man missing' and investigation is in progress.

Recording the same, this habeas corpus petition stands closed with a direction to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Pulianthope Sub-Division, to supervise the investigation in Otteri Police Station Crime No.1361 of 2021 and keep the petitioner informed of the developments, if any. As and when the detenu Abimanyu, aged about 25 years, is secured, he shall be produced before the X Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore, Chennai, under intimation to the petitioner. On such production, the learned Magistrate shall pass appropriate orders with regard to custody in accordance with law.
