The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 12.08.2022 for the offences punishable under Sections 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as Amended 2018) in Crime No.01 of 2022, seeks bail.
2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner/A1 who was the Revenue Inspector and A2 was working as a Village Administrative Officer, both the accused demanded a sum of Rs.50,000/- as bribe to transfer the patta in the name of the defacto complainant's father. It is further alleged that both the accused had received a sum of Rs.10,000/- and thereafter received a sum of Rs. 20,000/- from the defacto complainant. Hence, the case.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and a false case has been lodged against the petitioner. Hence, he prayed for grant of bail to the petitioner. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted there is no previous case pending against the petitioner. However, he opposed for grant of bail to the petitioner.
5. Considering the gravity of the offence committed which is serious and heinous against the society, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
