ORDER

By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself. 2.Mr.K. Suresh, Government Advocate takes notice for the respondents 1 to 4.

3. This writ petition is filed for a mandamus, directing the second respondent to pass appropriate orders on petitioner's petition dated 01.07.2024, submitted to the first respondent, now forwarded to the second respondent within a time frame fixed by this Court. 2 / 6

4. The petitioner executed a settlement deed in favour of his son, the 5th respondent herein on 30.09.2013. After the execution of the settlement deed, the 5th respondent in total violation of the terms of the settlement deed abandoned the petitioner and failed to take care of him. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation to the first respondent on 01.07.2024 seeking cancellation of the settlement deed, under the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior citizen Act, 2007. The first respondent inturn forwarded the same to the second respondent for proper action. Even though an enquiry was conducted on the petitioner's petition, final orders were not passed. Hence, the petitioner was constrained to file the above writ petition for the aforesaid relief.

5. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the official respondents submitted that the enquiry was completed and matter was pending with the second respondent for final orders. 3 / 6

6. At this juncture the learned counsel for the petitioner prayed that a time frame be fixed for passing final orders on the petitioner's petition dated 01.07.2024.

7.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and in view of the submission made by the learned Government Advocate that the matter is pending before the second respondent for passing final order only, a direction is issued to the second respondent, to pass final orders on the petitioner's representation dated 01.07.2024, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

8. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of. However, there shall be no order as to costs.
