Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 4 to remove the encroachment made by the 5th respondent in Government Land classified as "Manthaiveli" comprised in S.No.178/1A part situated at Sozhavaram Village, Kalasapakkam Taluk, Thiruvannamalai District by considering the petitioner representation dated 24.02.2025. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) The petitioner's grievance, as ventilated through this public interest litigation, is that despite the representation made and a direction given by the Collector to the Tahsildar, proceedings for removal of encroachments are not being undertaken expeditiously.

2. Having gone through the notice dated 24.03.2025 issued by the first respondent to the third respondent, at this stage, we are

inclined to dispose of the petition with a direction to the third respondent to conclude the proceedings one way or the other within a reasonable time, if not already concluded, after affording opportunity of hearing to the person against whom the encroachment is alleged. In case, the proceedings are not concluded after the reasonable period, say, four months, then the petitioner may take appropriate remedy.

There shall be no order as to costs.
