Prayer:-Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue Writ of Mandamus, to direct the 2nd and 4th respondents to take appropriate action against the 5th and 6th respondents for excommunicating the petitioner family members from the participation of the upcoming Arulmigu Sri Selliyamman Temple annual festival and to take further action to protect the petitioner and their family members right to participate and worship the community deity, Kaappu Kattu (Wear sacred thread in arms) upcoming Arulmigu Sri Selliyamman temple annual festival at Vembakkam Village, Anur Post, Thirukkazhukundram Taluk, Chengalpattu District based on the Petitioner's representation dated 19.07.2024. ORDER
The petitioner alleges that the villagers of Vembakkam Village, Anur post, Chengalpattu District have excommunicated him from participating in the Selliyamman Temple Annual festival. 2.The learned counsel appearing for the respondents 5 and 7 states that the villagers have never prohibited the petitioner herein from participating in the temple festival and if the petitioner wants to 2/5
participate in the temple festival, he is most welcome. 3.In view of the above undertaking given by the respondents 5 and 7, on behalf of the villagers, this Court finds that the allegation of excommunication is ill-founded. There is no bar for the petitioner to participate in the village function like any other villager and worship the god.
4.With the above observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
